Supporting Worcester staff who also care for someone

Worcestershire County Council’s information for people caring for someone with a mental health condition brings together carers’ support, a recovery college and local peer groups. This can be useful for employers recognising responsibilities outside work.

Keep the carer in view

The council identifies people providing unpaid support as carers and points to different carer information routes. A staff member may want help with their own caring role, not advice about becoming their relative’s clinician.

Distinguish recovery learning

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Wellbeing and Recovery College offers learning about wellbeing, recovery and life skills. This serves a different purpose from an assessed workplace first-aider qualification.

Check local group arrangements

The council lists Behind the Smile peer support for adults in Worcestershire and a Worcester meeting location. Check the group’s current arrangements before sharing a date or venue, rather than copying an old timetable into staff materials.

Why Mental Health First Aid Training is Essential

In today’s fast-paced work environment, mental health is as important as physical health. As awareness of mental health issues continues to grow, businesses are recognising the need to equip employees with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively. Our Mental Health First Aid Training ensures your team is prepared to offer support, create a healthier work environment, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

What You’ll Learn in Our Course

During the course, participants will gain a thorough understanding of mental health and how it affects individuals in the workplace. They will learn to recognise the early signs of mental health struggles, such as stress, anxiety, and depression. The training covers practical techniques for providing initial support to colleagues in need and how to confidently handle mental health crises. Participants will also learn how to direct colleagues towards professional help, ensuring mental health issues are addressed appropriately.

The Benefits of Mental Health First Aid Training

Investing in Mental Health First Aid Training brings significant benefits to your organisation. Employees trained in mental health first aid contribute to a supportive and safe work environment, helping reduce absenteeism and staff turnover. A mentally healthy team is more engaged and productive, and the training demonstrates your commitment to employee wellbeing. The course is accredited, meaning it meets the highest standards and is recognised across the UK.

Course and booking questions

Find the right route for yourself or your team.

Ask our team
How is training delivered for learners in Worcester?

Our courses are delivered online. Public Level 3 training is taught live by an instructor, the short awareness course is self-paced, and the other courses are available as live online group bookings.

Which course qualifies me as a workplace mental health first aider?

Choose the Level 3 Mental Health First Aid course. The Qualsafe Level 3 qualification is awarded subject to passing all assessments. The short awareness course and Level 1 and Level 2 courses do not provide that first-aider qualification.

What does the training cost?

The public Level 3 course is £295 excluding VAT (£354 including VAT). The short self-paced awareness course is £14. Request a group quote for Level 1, Level 2 and refresher training; private in-house course options start from £650 + VAT.

Can we book training for our team?

Yes. Contact us about a private live online course. If you want to train workplace mental health first aiders, ask about Level 3. Tell us the learner numbers and preferred dates so we can discuss a suitable group arrangement.

Do I need to travel to a training venue?

No. We deliver the courses on this page online, rather than at a training venue in Worcester. For live instructor-led training, check the equipment and joining requirements on your chosen course page before booking.

Can I complete a course at my own pace?

The short online awareness course is self-paced. Level 3 and the group courses are live instructor-led training, so you attend at the arranged times.

Is recovery-college learning in Worcestershire a substitute for a workplace first-aider course?

No. The council describes it as wellbeing, recovery and life-skills learning. It can be a useful separate resource, but employers should choose workplace training according to the role and qualification they need.
