This qualification is for those aged 16 years and over who have an interest in Mental Health and would like to raise their awareness of Mental Health within the workplace and in general. You will not be eligible to be a first aider for Mental Health.

Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF)

This course helps learners by teaching them about stress, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, depression and anxiety that could occur in the workplace. The one-day course is advised for those who want to promote a mentally healthy work environment. You will not be eligible to be a first aider for Mental Health.

Which course should I choose to become a workplace mental health first aider?

Choose Level 3 Mental Health First Aid. The qualification is awarded on successful assessment. You can book a public live online course, or contact us about Level 3 training for your team.

What is the difference between the short online course and Level 3?

The short course is a self-paced awareness introduction that takes around one hour. Level 3 is a two-day, instructor-led course with assessments for the workplace first-aider qualification. The short course does not provide that qualification.

Can I book a course just for myself?

You can book a place on a public Level 3 course, which has a maximum of eight learners, or enrol on the short self-paced online course. Level 1, Level 2, refresher, youth and private in-house courses are available for group bookings only.

Do I have to complete Level 1 before Level 2 or Level 3?

The courses are different training options; you do not have to complete them in numerical order. Check the entry requirements on the individual course page, including age and language requirements, before booking.

Which course is for people working with children and young people?

The Youth Mental Health First Aid for Schools course is designed for educators, school staff and youth workers. It is a two-day group course for participants aged 18 and over, with FAIB certification on successful completion.

Will the refresher renew my original certificate?

No. The refresher updates your knowledge and skills but does not extend the validity of your original Mental Health First Aid certificate. Contact us with your previous course and completion date so we can confirm the appropriate route.

Are the courses online or in a classroom?

All the courses shown here are delivered online. The short awareness course is self-paced. Level 3 and the group courses are taught live by an instructor, so you attend at the arranged times.
