Level 3 Award In Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF)

The Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid is a two-day course in MHFA, equipping learners with comprehensive insights into mental health first aid training matters.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, attendees will gain enhanced awareness of mental health, develop skills to attentively listen to others' mental health concerns, and contribute to mental health risk assessments and the drafting of policies in the workplace.

Furthermore, they will be capable of guiding individuals who may have mental health issues towards appropriate support, including healthcare professionals or national charities.

This programme offers valuable learning to participants by covering prevalent mental health issues in the workplace such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and stress. It includes instruction on assisting in crisis scenarios, identifying signs of work-related stress, and formulating impactful wellness action strategies.

Understanding Mental Health: Defining mental health and distinguishing between terms such as mental health episode, crisis, and condition.

Factors Influencing Mental Health: Exploring various elements that can impact an individual's mental well-being.

The Mental Health Continuum: Examining the spectrum of mental health, from wellness to illness.

Roles and Responsibilities: Identifying the specific duties and expectations of a Mental Health First Aider and Responder.

Attributes and Behaviors: Outlining the essential qualities and actions of a competent Mental Health First Aider.

Mental Health Action Plan Protocol (DR EFG): Learning a structured approach to addressing mental health issues.

Supporting Return to Work: Guiding how to assist an individual (and their line manager) in returning to work after an absence due to mental health concerns.

Physical First Aid Skills: Applying physical first aid techniques in response to mental health emergencies.

Risk Assessment: Conducting a thorough risk assessment when providing support.

Identifying Medical Emergencies and Imminent Threats: Differentiating between a medical emergency and a life-threatening situation, including the identification of mental health conditions that may be critical.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for those looking to understand and improve their knowledge about mental health and to learn the skills to support their own and others’ positive wellbeing in the workplace.

Please be aware that this course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing, including suicide and self-harm. If a delegate feels overwhelmed, they can leave the course at any time.
